Buckhorn to Silver City:
I'm having trouble with photos. Maybe I can load some later.
After two long days, we were looking forward to a short day, 37 miles. It turned into a struggle. We got started late because It was a short day anyway. There was a lot of wind, sometimes in our faces? The road dropped into one gully after another with a grind back out of each. And we were tired. The ride seemed to take forever.
The good part was that Patrick Lyford drove twenty miles out from Silver City to welcome us. Patrick is a WarmShowers.org host who opened his home to us. He drove back to Silver City and then pedaled back out with his wife,Eileen, to lead us. I hope topost aphoto of Patrick's somewhat exotic bike, a front-wheel drive recumbent. Patrick cooked us a delicious dinner (and breakfast) and told us stories of his rides. He rode from Alaska to Maine. He's planning a 10,000 mile, six month solo tour. Eileen gave us a concert of Irish fiddle music and swapped memories of Brazil with Steve. Our thanks to Patrick and Eileen for their courtesy and generosity.
