Coast to Coast Ride

Friday, April 06, 2012

We have settled in Fort Hancock for tonight. Fort Hancock was established by Buffalo Soldiers in the 1880's. It was abandoned a few years Later, but the town has hung on, barely. We seem to be on the edge of a culture shift here. We are leaving taco land behind and entering the chicken fried steak territory.

After leaving El Paso, we encountered this statement. The artistic medium is concrete cores such as might be cut out of a construction project to confirm the strength/quality of the concrete.

The Butterfield Trail was the world's longest overland mail route, from St. Louis to San Francisco, we are informed. It ran through El Paso.

Love those Chicken Fried Stakes.

Add Mashed potato's and milk gravy, then you have something.
